Bully Documentary Looks Heartbreaking and Hopeful

TRIGGER WARNING: HARASSMENT, SUICIDE

Here’s a trailer for the soon-to-be-released Bully, a documentary that focuses on the horrifying harassment that some children face at school and what some are doing to stop it. The preview on its own is a whirlwind of hope and dispair— we can only imagine how many box of tissues it will take to get through the whole film.

Update: A reader alerted us to an interesting backstory. The MPAA has given Bully an R rating, making it harder for kids across the country to see. Read more about it here.

What possible reason could they have for giving it an R rating? Because it makes them uncomfortable? Bah.

The MPAA rated the movie R on the basis of language used in the film — language that young teens hurled at a 13-year-old.

What’s the point of an R rating? Unless it’s to force parents and kids to watch it together and start a dialouge? Maybe?
